HOC’s Holistic Approach to Recovery

Our programme is built on the understanding that true recovery extends beyond abstinence; it encompasses spiritual, emotional, and practical growth. Residents are embraced by a supportive community focused on discipleship, learning a variety of life skills, receiving counselling, and developing a healthy daily routine. This holistic approach prepares them for reconciliation with their families and successful reintegration as meaningful members of society.

Key Pillars of the Programme:

  • Structured Living: Our 6-month residential programme provides a stable and nurturing environment. Residents adhere to a Code of Conduct that promotes respect, cleanliness, and a healthy lifestyle, free from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
  • Spiritual and Emotional Discipleship: Daily devotions, Bible studies, and church attendance are integral to the programme, fostering spiritual growth and inner strength. Group counselling sessions are held weekly, with individual counselling available for residents in early chapters of recovery.
  • Life Skills Development: Residents engage in a daily work routine aligned with positive lifestyles, helping them to develop essential skills for independent living.
  • The 12-Step My Road to Recovery Programme: This structured programme guides residents through a proven path to overcoming addiction.
  • Supportive Community: We foster an environment where residents socialize with peers within their programme, encouraging healthy relationships and mutual support.
  • Medical and Psychiatric Support: While HOC is not a medical facility, we carefully consider the medical and psychiatric needs of applicants. We ensure arrangements are made for chronic medication and provide referrals to local hospitals for emergencies.

Admission and Progress:
Our application process is thorough, ensuring that the programme is a good fit for each individual. Applicants complete a form, undergo a telephonic interview with our Recovery Manager, and are provided with our Code of Conduct. The application is then reviewed by a panel, considering the applicant’s motivations, medical needs, and commitment to recovery.

Addressing a Critical Need:
Substance abuse is a significant challenge in Gauteng and across South Africa, particularly for the poor and marginalized. HOC offers a vital, free-of-charge recovery option to those who need it most. We are committed to developing multi-disciplinary treatment options and expanding our capacity to meet the overwhelming need in the community.

Join Us in Making a Difference:
