Trainee Chef Programme

Training creates opportunity.

Moving from charity to empowerment is one of the most difficult yet crucial steps for any NPO to take. Unemployment will never be eradicated in South Africa unless we empower people to compete in the job market.

Our Chefs’ Programme is a 1 year live-in theoretical and practical training course for aspiring chefs. Applicants are required to live in at Hands of Compassion. There is a 3-month probation period, after which the applicant is registered with the Hospitality Training Association (HTA) in Randburg.

Minimum level of education required is Gr 12.

Trainee chefs work in the HOC Kitchen. They are provided with a chef’s uniform and receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the programme. Practical training is done two days per month at HTA in Randburg.
