Not Forgotten

Not Forgotten

Do you feel as if God has forgotten you? Sometimes we feel alienated from our friends, family and colleagues: and even God.

There are many great truths in the Bible, and one of them is that God does not forget you. You are the apple of God’s eye. You have a special place in God’s heart. God loves you and wants to have a mean

Gentleness

Gentleness

In our fast-paced and competitive world, it is easy to forget that we need to be gentle. We often see gentleness as weakness – something to be avoided in oneself and exploited in others.

Biblical times were violent and harsh, yet the bible tells us repeatedly to be gentle. Jesus is our example; he was gentle and strong at the same time. Not two opposing values but two that complement each other.

Integrity

Integrity

Integrity is a firm adherence to a code of moral values. For those of us who are Christians, it is a commitment to what we understand to be biblical values. In a nutshell, it is being true to God and ourselves. Being honest. Having strong moral principles that we refuse to compromise. Our integrity (or lack of integrity) has not only consequences for our own lives but for our children as well.

Endurance

Endurance

2020 has been such a tough year! For many of us, it is only by God’s grace that we have made it into 2021! Our fight against COVID and all the devastating consequences of the virus must not stop until most of our people have been vaccinated and we have it under control.

Why I care about the poor… I become a witness to the world

Why I care about the poor… I become a witness to the world

We need to present the “real” Jesus to the world to the world …. Jesus, who is concerned about the needs of the poor. Our witness is not just about leading others to a saving faith in God, but in having a witness of a God of justice and compassion. Every human being is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Why I care about the poor …. I remind them that God loves them

Why I care about the poor …. I remind them that God loves them

Let us not be presumptuous to think that the poor will believe that God loves them if we (the more affluent Christians) do not love them. That is why they often do not love themselves.

When we turn our backs on the poor, what message about God are we sending them?

Why I care about the poor … I will be blessed

Why I care about the poor … I will be blessed

Our motive is not to be blessed. We give because God first gave to us and because we love people.
Starting in the Old Testament, there is a definite, clear message: God blesses us as we help others.

Why I care about the poor…. It strengthens my relationships with God

If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord – and He will repay you.

Do we really believe this biblical truth: that God, the creator of all life, becomes indebted to use when we help the poor?
God always repays us. Sometimes He does it in ways we don’t even recognise or appreciate.

Why I care about the poor… because by doing so I minister to Jesus

Why I care about the poor… because by doing so I minister to Jesus

Why feed one person when there are millions starving? Because it makes a difference to that person, and you are doing it for Jesus – it means a lot to Him.
As much as you have done it to one of these (verse 40)… don’t think that what you are doing is insignificant. As they say “If you think you are too small to make a difference, you have never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room.”
Remember that God is not a God of poverty, but He is a God of the poor.
