Hands of Compassion Children’s Home is part of our community in Lanseria and accommodates 36 children. Our children are in “family” units cared for by child care workers. It is a registered children’s home that serves as a place of safety for children in need of care, placed with us by the Children’s Court.
We provide a large number of programmes and facilities:
- Recreational facilities
- Library
- Computer room
- Supervised homework
- Counselling and training
- Career advice
- Sports
- Life skills
- Christian teaching
- Tuckshop
- Transport to school and back
Volunteers assist with outings, birthdays, and arts and crafts classes. Our sport and recreational activities include a swimming pool, gym, running track, trampolines, outside chess board, tennis court, snooker table, fuzzball table, table tennis, board games, and libraries.
Our social worker works together with the children and their families, offering counseling and training.
Our focus is to stabilize our children and offer them hope and inspiration to develop into responsible and happy adults. Our ultimate aim is to re-unite the families and equip them so they in turn may build their future together.
