Our thoughts are an important part of who we are. The way we think about ourselves, others, and God form our worldview. The decisions we make can seriously affect the trajectory of our lives.
Romans 12: 2
Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
God wants to continually transform us but he does it in partnership with us. All of us need to think in line with God’s word. Thoughts of justice, equality, peace, forgiveness, integrity, holiness. What do you think about yourself, about money, about your relationships. Do you think seriously about the social problems that plague our communities and nation?
Philippians 4: 6-8
Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now dear brothers and sisters one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
When you are worried and stressed out you must pray and fix your thoughts on truth and righteousness. Even though your circumstances may not yet have changed, you will start to experience the peace of God. A peace that you cannot get from success, drugs, or popularity.
Proverbs 21:29
The wicked bluff their way through, but the virtuous think before they act.
Try and develop the life skill of thinking before you act. So often we get ourselves into trouble because we rush into decisions. Sometimes we are lazy thinkers, not bothering to seek counsel from mature people or not willing to do some research for ourselves.
Ephesians 4:23
Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
I trust that as you allow the Spirit to change the way you think, you will experience peace and stability and that you will make healthy decisions that benefit you and those close to you.
